Another Migrant Charged in Adams' Resettlement Program for Sexual Assault
The National Guard has been deployed to western New York after a second migrant brought there through New York City Mayor Eric Adams' resettlement program was arrested on sexual abuse charges. Erie County officials allege that a third-party contractor obstructed local police investigations into the assaults and are demanding federal action to address the crisis. Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz announced that no more asylum seekers would be sent from New York City until security measures improve, and National Guard members will be stationed at hotels housing asylum seekers. The county is also calling for the discontinuation of using a specific hotel to house asylum seekers.
