Carnival's Loyalty Overhaul Draws Mixed Reactions From Loyal Cruisers
Carnival Cruise Line launched Carnival Rewards, a new loyalty program that awards Stars for every dollar spent and Points for purchases (plus casino activity), with a two-year earning window and a two-year hold on earned status. Tiers run Red, Gold, Platinum and Diamond, with a Milestone Recognition component adding benefits after certain sailing days. The program is brand-specific (not reciprocal with Holland America or Princess) and includes a Carnival Rewards Mastercard; status rules allow lifetime Diamond for those who earned it by August 31, while others follow the two-year cycle. Initial qualification runs Sept. 1, 2026–Dec. 31, 2028, and benefits can be redeemed toward cruise fares, dining, shore excursions, and more, with unused benefits valid through 2030. The rollout has met mixed reactions from loyalists concerned about expiration and loyalty value, though Carnival says the changes provide more flexible recognition.
