Russian Border Security Strengthened on Putin's Orders
Russian President Vladimir Putin has ordered stronger border security to ensure fast movement of military and civilian vehicles and cargo into Ukrainian regions under Moscow's control. Attacks inside Russia have been growing in intensity in recent weeks, including drone strikes on regions along the border and deep into the country. Putin proclaimed the annexation of four regions in Ukraine last September, and Russian forces only partly control them. Ukraine indicated on Saturday that it was ready to launch a long-promised counteroffensive to recapture territory taken by Russia in the 15-month long war.
