Rejected Art Finds a Second Stage Beyond the State Fair
With more than 3,185 submissions and only 340 accepted in 2026, the Minnesota State Fair Fine Arts Competition remains highly selective, yet rejection has spurred two galleries to host annual 'Rejected' shows—Burl Community Art Gallery in St. Paul and Douglas Flanders & Associates in Edina—giving hundreds of works a new life and turning rejection into a community conversation about art.
