Virginia's Prince William County election officials have admitted to misreporting around 4,000 votes in favor of former President Trump during the 2020 presidential election, resulting in President Joe Biden being shorted 1,648 votes. The errors, which also affected U.S. Senate candidates and a Republican House candidate, were attributed to issues with the results tapes not being programmed to a compatible format with state reporting requirements. Despite the misreporting, Biden still won Virginia by over 450,000 votes, and the errors did not meet the threshold for a recount. The former registrar, Michele White, who was charged in connection with the 2020 election, had the charges dropped, and the director of elections emphasized that improvements have been made to ensure the integrity of future elections.
