Mono-Green Landfall Dominates Standard RCQs as Metagame Shifts Post-Ban
Mono-Green Landfall has surged to 27.8% of the winner's metagame share in Standard, becoming the primary deck to beat for Regional Championship Qualifiers (RCQs) running until November 29. This dominance follows the August 10 ban of Badgermole Cub, which slowed the deck slightly but did not diminish its overall impact. The current metagame is defined by three major archetypes: Mono-Green Landfall, Dimir Midrange (12.1%), and Izzet Spellementals (10.8%), which together account for over half of all tournament wins. While Landfall relies on ramp and landfall triggers, Izzet Spellementals offers a favorable matchup through Sunderflock, and Dimir Midrange provides flexible removal and card advantage. Other notable strategies include Selesnya Landfall, Azorius Momo, and Four-Color Control, each holding between 3.0% and 4.0% of the share. The format remains dynamic, with players adapting sideboards to counter Landfall’s multifaceted game plan, which combines aggressive threats, long-game endurance, and combo potential.
