
HFPA Sues Penske Media Over Golden Globes Deal, Claiming Monopoly Scheme
The Hollywood Foreign Press Association filed a California federal lawsuit against Penske Media, alleging a clandestine plan to acquire the Golden Globes and monopolize the Hollywood trades. The HFPA seeks at least $150 million and an order unwinding the acquisition, arguing claims including monopolization, unjust enrichment and fraudulent misrepresentation, and noting industry Boycott pressure that followed the deal’s closing more than three years ago.
