Google emerges victorious as judge invalidates Sonos patents
A federal court has ruled that two Sonos patents related to the management of smart speakers in a multiroom system are invalid, months after a $32.5 million jury verdict in Sonos' favor against Google was vacated. The judge stated that Sonos filed provisional applications for the patents in 2006 but waited over 13 years to file their completed applications, by which time the industry had already implemented the claimed invention.
