Pennington Foundation Bolsters BRG's Arts Program Amid Cancer Care Dispute
The Irene W. and C.B. Pennington Family Foundation is donating $130,000 to the Baton Rouge General Foundation's Arts in Medicine program, following their decision to no longer support the Pennington Cancer Center due to a partnership with Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center. The Arts in Medicine program utilizes art and music therapy to treat and inspire patients, with proven benefits in reducing anxiety and depression. The program has supported over 115,000 patients, and the Pennington Family Foundation is honored to continue supporting a program that brings hope and healing through the arts.
