
Fed's Rate Hike Leaves Asia Markets Mixed and Uncertain
Asia-Pacific markets were mixed after the US Federal Reserve raised rates by 25 basis points and hinted at a possible pause in hikes ahead. In mainland China, stocks fell after returning from Labor Day holiday, while Hong Kong's Hang Seng index gained. Australia's trade surplus widened to AU$15.27bn in March, while National Australia Bank missed earnings expectations. The dollar index fell more than 0.7% to a session low of 101.07, while WTI Crude prices fell to their lowest levels since March.
