Capital Region home sellers experience drop in profits.
The average profit margin for home sellers in the Baton Rouge metro area decreased to 31% during the first quarter of 2023, down from the previous quarter and the same period last year, but still higher than any previous quarter since the Great Recession. The median price for a home sold in the Capital Region was $210,225, down from the previous quarter and year over year. Nationally, profit margins on median-priced single-family home and condo sales decreased to 44.2%, and the national median home price rose 1% quarterly to $321,135.
