Libya Declares State of Alert as Rare Storm Daniel Causes Devastating Flooding
Libya has closed four oil ports, including Ras Lanuf, Zueitina, Brega, and Es Sidra, as a precautionary measure ahead of a possible hurricane. The state-owned National Oil Corp. (NOC) has declared a state of maximum alert and instructed workers to restrict movement and monitor ship movements. The NOC also urged companies to take steps to protect industrial units and facilities from potential floods. The closure comes after the NOC reported that Libyan crude oil production had reached 1.208 million b/d. Libya's oil sector has been volatile due to political and military conflicts, with the country exporting the majority of its production to Europe.
