WHO advocates cost-effective strategies to combat NCDs and mental health challenges

NCRHA provides specialized care for diabetic mothers.

The North Central Regional Health Authority (NCRHA) in Trinidad and Tobago has established the Advanced Diabetes in Pregnancy Clinic at the Mt Hope Women’s Hospital to provide specialist medical intervention to pregnant women who are pre-disposed to non-communicable diseases such as diabetes. Since 2017, approximately 3,700 pregnant women have accessed specialist care to ensure the health and well-being of both baby and mother. The clinic includes educational sessions and workshops with experts in the field, as well as access to medical care from ophthalmologists, cardiologists, haematologists, nutritionists and dieticians to name a few.
