Surprising Discovery: Woman's Stomach Cramps Uncover Unusual Pregnancy Location
A 37-year-old woman sought medical treatment for severe abdominal pain and bloating, only to discover that she was 23 weeks pregnant with a fetus growing in her bowel, a rare case of abdominal ectopic pregnancy. Ectopic pregnancies, which occur outside the uterus, are dangerous for the mother and rarely result in a surviving fetus. The baby was delivered at 29 weeks and placed in the neonatal intensive care unit, with both mother and baby being discharged after three months. This is not the first case of an embryo growing in an unusual location, as a pediatrician previously reported a fetus growing in a woman's liver.
