Higher semaglutide doses linked to fewer neuropsychiatric events, beyond weight loss
An observational real-world study of 63,215 patients with preexisting neuropsychiatric conditions found that initiating semaglutide was associated with broadly lower neuropsychiatric event risk over two years compared with metformin, SGLT2 inhibitors, or DPP-4 inhibitors. Within the semaglutide group, higher attained doses during the first two years predicted a lower incidence of neuropsychiatric events in the following two years, independent of weight loss. Analyses used de-identified, federated electronic health record data and did not require IRB approval.
