Hochul’s Final Push: Bridging Democratic Divides to Defeat Blakeman
Gov. Kathy Hochul is uniting New York’s fractured Democratic base, including Mayor Zohran Mamdani and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, for a final campaign sprint ahead of the Nov. 3 election. While the moderate governor and the democratic socialist mayor have joined forces to oppose Republican candidate Bruce Blakeman, internal party tensions over taxes, immigration, and public safety remain a central challenge. Hochul aims to leverage this coalition to counter Blakeman’s attacks on her record and President Trump’s influence, though it remains unclear if Mamdani’s progressive supporters will turn out in sufficient numbers to secure her second term.
