Iowa man receives 50-year sentence for newborn's drowning death
Brandon Thoma, an Iowa man, has been sentenced to 50 years in prison for his role in the death of his newborn baby. Thoma pleaded guilty to child endangerment resulting in death and abuse of a corpse after he and the baby's mother, Taylor Blaha, drowned their newborn in a bathtub and disposed of the body. The baby's remains have not been found despite extensive searches. Blaha, who pleaded guilty to second-degree murder, was also sentenced to 50 years in prison with a chance for parole at 35 years.
