Greece and Israel Sign Record $3.6 Billion Air Defense Pact to Counter Regional Rivals
Greece and Israel are set to sign a historic €3.1 billion ($3.6 billion) defense agreement in Tel Aviv, marking Israel’s largest-ever export deal. The 'Achilles Shield' project replaces aging Russian and European systems with a multilayered Israeli air defense network, including David’s Sling, Barak MX, and SPYDER systems, integrated via AI. The deal aims to counter threats from Turkey and Iran, bolstering a strategic triangle with Cyprus while boosting Israel’s global defense market despite diplomatic pressures.
