Whistleblower suit links nurse’s narcotics theft to two patient deaths at Heritage Valley Sewickley
A six-count whistleblower lawsuit accuses Heritage Valley Sewickley ER nurse Nolan D. Chismire of stealing narcotics and being intoxicated on the job, delaying care and contributing to two 2024 patient deaths (a 70-year-old woman, and a 47-year-old man). The suit also claims HVHS leadership attempted to cover up the drug problems to benefit from a sale, with several HVHS nurses raising concerns between 2021–2025. HVHS is merging with Allegheny Health Network, and no charges have been filed against the defendants.
