GameStop CEO Ryan Cohen dismissed Sony’s plan to phase out physical discs, arguing that physical media and software are no longer central to the business and that collectibles and hardware drive most revenue; in Q1 2026 collectibles accounted for about 41.8% of revenue with hardware and accessories near 40%, while software was the smallest slice.
