From Kristallnacht to Gaza: Remembering the Past, Fearing the Future
Eighty-five years after the November pogroms, Germany is witnessing a resurgence of pogrom-like sentiments, this time directed against Muslims and those who oppose the genocide in Gaza. The article argues that wherever xenophobia thrives, antisemitism is not far away. German politicians and media are using the memory of the November pogroms to justify war crimes against Palestinians and to incite hatred against migrants and refugees. The article emphasizes the need to reject nationalism and racist agitation, and calls for the building of an international socialist movement.
