Brooklyn school aide charged with murder in fatal stabbing of jogger Katie Suarez
Sayed Mohassib, a 27-year-old Brooklyn school aide and former NYPD officer, was arrested and charged with second-degree murder in the fatal stabbing of 28-year-old Katie Suarez. Suarez was killed on Oct. 30 while jogging along the Shore Parkway Greenway. Mohassib, who was suspended by the NYC Department of Education, allegedly told police he woke up covered in blood with no memory of the attack. Investigators identified him through evidence placing him at the scene, ending a week-long search. Elected officials have demanded an investigation into his hiring, citing his prior military discharge for psychiatric reasons.
