Mamdani taps Lina Khan to chair NYC’s economic development board
New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani plans to appoint Lina Khan, the progressive antitrust regulator and former FTC chair, as chair of the Economic Development Corporation’s board, signaling a shift away from business-friendly ties. Mamdani also plans to name Anthony Shorris, a former deputy mayor, as EDC president, as the board, which must approve major projects, continues to oversee initiatives like Hudson Yards, the High Line, Roosevelt Island’s Cornell Tech campus, and the city ferry system.
