Bronx route tweak marks 50th NYC Marathon milestone
The NYC Marathon will change its Bronx segment for the 50th edition, rerouting a brief stretch to ease neighborhood access and reduce congestion. Runners will go off the Willis Avenue Bridge onto Alexander Avenue to East 141st Street (instead of East 138th), cutting Bronx turns from seven to five while keeping the total distance at 26.2 miles and maintaining the will-call through the Willis Avenue Bridge into Manhattan; more than 60,000 runners are expected.
