Parental Infertility Increases Autism Risk in Children
A study involving 1.3 million children found that children born to parents with fertility issues have a slightly higher risk of autism spectrum disorder (ASD). The research suggests that the risk of ASD is increased in children of parents previously diagnosed with infertility, regardless of whether fertility treatments were involved. The study also highlights the role of obstetrical factors like multiple pregnancies and preterm births in mediating this association.
