
Fatal Explosion at Optical Plant Near Moscow Leaves Multiple Injured
One person has been killed and dozens injured in a powerful explosion at the Zagorsk Optical-Mechanical Plant near Moscow. The blast triggered a "total evacuation" of nearby buildings, with plumes of smoke seen billowing into the air. At least 30 people have been hospitalized, with six in intensive care, while another 26 sought medical care but did not require hospitalization. Twelve people remain missing. The cause of the explosion is believed to be workflow violations, and a criminal case has been opened for the violation of industrial safety requirements. The plant produces night vision devices and binoculars for the Russian military.
