Researchers at the University of Tsukuba have developed a light-sensitive drug that enhances adenosine activity in the brain, successfully inducing sleep in mice without genetic modification. This innovative approach overcomes the limitations of conventional photosensitive drugs, offering precise control over sleep and motivation by targeting A2A receptors in the nucleus accumbens.
