Researchers in Japan have developed an oral COVID-19 vaccine pill that releases into the mucus, allowing for easier distribution and more effective combat against the virus. The pill contains a small inactive part of the virus and induces the production of antibodies, specifically Immunoglobulin A, which can neutralize the virus on the external surface of epithelial cells. When tested on monkeys, the pill produced the necessary antibodies without any apparent side effects.
