AO3 Fan Fiction Site Offline for Weeks After Security Incident
The Archive of Our Own (AO3), a major fan fiction repository, has been offline since October 29, 2026, due to a security incident. The Organization for Transformative Works (OTW) estimates full restoration could take up to four weeks, though a degraded version may return sooner. While no data has been deleted, users are advised to change passwords as the scope of the breach remains unclear. The outage has sparked community panic, with fans creating 'survival guides' to access cached stories.
