Australian surfer Owen Wright, who suffered a traumatic brain injury in 2015, has announced his retirement from professional surfing due to the risks associated with head injuries and concussions. Wright, who was swindled out of $815,000 by a family friend turned bookkeeper, had been given a wildcard entry to the upcoming Rip Curl Pro Bells Beach. Despite retiring from competition, Wright plans to continue surfing and is a successful real estate developer.
