SNL UK’s Second Season Premiere Turns Ed Sheeran’s Tour Crisis Into a Satirical Spectacle

Saturday Night Live UK’s second season premiere delivered a sustained, multi-segment satire targeting Ed Sheeran’s handling of the Macklemore controversy. Host Amelia Dimoldenberg mocked Sheeran as a 'red-headed puppet' in her opening monologue, while co-anchor Paddy Young and cast members skewered the singer’s refusal to take a political stance. The show’s jokes referenced Sheeran’s tearful Philadelphia concert, his removal of opener Macklemore, and the subsequent walkout of other support acts. This marks the second consecutive week SNL UK has centered its 'Weekend Update' segments on the fallout from the Loop Tour.
