Panerai Reimagines a 1960s Prototype With Two Forged Luminor Divers
To celebrate its Florence boutique milestone, Panerai unveils two 44mm Luminor divers inspired by a 1960s reference 6152/1 prototype. Both share the hand-wound Calibre P.5000 with an 8-day power reserve, but differ in materials and water resistance: PAM01734 in Platinumtech with a 100m rating and sapphire caseback, and PAM01794 in steel with a 300m rating and a closed caseback. The platinum model is limited to 100 pieces and priced at $56,400, while the steel version is limited to 1,000 pieces at $11,000. The design nods include a domed sapphire crystal evoking vintage acrylics and crown-protector grooves borrowed from the prototype; a Florence exhibition runs alongside the launch.
