A 65-year-old Park Ridge resident, Katherine Baransky, was struck and killed by a vehicle at the Cumberland and Peterson intersection around 6:30 a.m. Saturday. She died at Lutheran General Hospital. The Park Ridge Police Major Crash Unit is investigating and no charges have been issued as the case remains under review.

Chicago police Sgt. Michael Vitellaro has been found not guilty of aggravated battery and official misconduct after being charged in a case that left a teen pinned to the ground. Vitellaro was off-duty at the time and claimed he was using proper technique to take down a bike thief suspect. The incident occurred in Park Ridge, where Vitellaro's son's bike was allegedly stolen.
