UM Defense Finds Holes Even in Stanford Win, Needs Work
Miami’s 45-6 win over Stanford looked solid on the scoreboard, but UM’s defense showed pass-coverage leaks in both man and zone, limited QB pressure (only seven hurries and one sack) and injuries to key players like OJ Frederique affected personnel and schemes. Safety Zachariah Poyser and others logged heavy snaps while PFF rankings highlighted mixed performances across the front seven, with some players underperforming. Special teams were solid, led by Jake Weinberg’s perfect extra points and a 46-yard field goal, but Stanford exploited kickoffs at times. Overall, UM’s defense did enough against a weaker opponent, but improvements are needed for tougher foes.
