Joby Aviation has received a Special Airworthiness Certificate from the Federal Aviation Administration for its first production prototype aircraft, marking a significant step towards passenger flights in 2025. The company also extended its contract with the U.S. Air Force to deliver electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft by 2024. Joby plans to begin commercial operations in 2025 and has partnered with Delta Air Lines to provide convenient shuttles for customers. The aircraft, designed with Toyota's help, has a payload of 1,000 lbs, can travel up to 100 miles at speeds of 200 mph, and operates at a sound level of 45 decibels.
