Wildfire smoke causes air quality alerts across Pennsylvania

The main threat will be from ozone, a pollutant that forms when compounds from car exhaust or factories react with sunlight. Outdoor activities should be limited for vulnerable groups, and the DEP recommends driving less, carpooling, and conserving electricity. Shifting winds from Tuesday on should limit both ozone and particle pollution from getting above moderate levels.
