Deadly Gas Platform Explosion in Mexico Leaves 2 Dead, 6 Injured, and 1 Missing
An explosion and fire at an offshore gas platform in the Gulf of Mexico operated by Petroleos Mexicanos (Pemex) killed two workers, injured eight, and left one missing. The platform was completely destroyed, but nearby platforms were unaffected. Pemex evacuated 321 workers from the platform, and there is little risk of an oil spill. However, the accident may lead to a temporary reduction in crude oil production.
