SNL UK Satirizes Markle Scandal as Philippine Forensics and Family Apologies Emerge
SNL UK used its 'Weekend Update' segment to satirize the recent allegations that Thomas Markle Sr. possessed child sexual abuse images, framing the story through the lens of British xenophobia and former Prince Andrew. While the comedy segment highlighted the difficulty of joking about such serious claims, serious developments emerged from the investigation: Philippine authorities confirmed a forensic analysis of digital devices found in Markle’s former home in Cebu, and his son, Thomas Markle Jr., issued a public apology to Meghan Markle for previously defending their father. Meghan confirmed she had known of the allegations since a 2019 letter from the Metropolitan Police, stating her estrangement was to protect her children. Thomas Markle Sr. denies the claims, calling them 'sick lies,' while the FBI has stated it will support the Philippine investigation.
