On Jay Shetty's On Purpose podcast, Travis Barker recalls his daughter Alabama’s eerie plea not to fly—repeatedly saying the roof would come off—before the private plane crash in 2008 that killed four. Barker felt an “awful feeling” about the small plane and, despite his manager's push to perform, boarded the flight; only he and DJ AM survived as others died. He spent 11 weeks in the hospital after severe burns and avoided flying for 13 years, noting he would handle similar fears differently today. Alabama had also referenced the crash in his 2015 memoir, Can I Say, predicting the roof would come off.
