Pokémon Bank Shuts Down, Ending the DS-to-Switch Transfer Bridge
Pokémon Bank and Poké Transporter are ending, closing the long-running DS/3DS-era bridge to newer games. Bank will stop functioning on February 25, 2027 (with 3DS online services already shut since 2024), and only pre-redeemed access remains until then. In October, the FireRed/LeafGreen Switch ports will gain Pokémon HOME support, enabling transfers from those games to newer titles, but overall this marks the end of an era for migrating older Pokémon to modern systems.
