Nintendo announces Pokemon XD: Gale of Darkness is now available on Switch 2 through the Nintendo GameCube – Nintendo Classics service, letting players recruit Eevee and allies to capture and purify Shadow Pokemon and thwart an evil organization, with a trailer released.
Nintendo Life reports that Switch 2 is expanding its GameCube library with Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness, a 2005 RPG by Genius Sonority, now available to Switch Online + Expansion Pack members, with Colosseum expected to follow later. The XD title centers on catching Shadow Pokémon (including Shadow Lugia) and was part of Pokémon Day announcements, which also showcased the return of Pokémon FireRed & LeafGreen and pointed to further GameCube titles coming to Switch 2.
Nintendo announced Pokemon XD: Gale of Darkness as the next GameCube title joining Nintendo Switch Online, with a March 2026 release planned for Switch 2 (Expansion Pack required). The rollout continues the service’s GameCube library, which already includes Luigi’s Mansion, Chibi-Robo, and others, and has driven up physical prices for the cult-favorite title. Nintendo has not set a precise date yet, but a specific date should be revealed soon. After Gale of Darkness, only Super Mario Sunshine and Pokemon Colosseum remain to join the catalog, which is expected by early summer and would bring the lineup to 11 titles.
