Bolingbrook’s Pelican Harbor outdoor pool was temporarily closed after a fecal incident involving diarrhea, requiring a specialized health-treatment process before it could safely reopen. Officials said the outdoor pool would be back by July 13, while the indoor pool remained open noon–6 p.m.; Pelican Harbor has since reopened.
Sacramento's Southside Pool will remain closed this summer due to the need for resurfacing and a shortage of funds to complete the project. The closure is frustrating for residents who use the facility, including the President of the Southside Park Neighborhood Association, who said the closure is hurting the community. The city is encouraging visitors to use other pools and is looking into providing free transportation for families. Councilwoman Katie Valenzuela said they have funding for phase one and hope to reopen the pool for summer 2024.
