
"New Methods for Early Detection of Alzheimer's Disease Revealed"
Neuroscientists at the Medical University of South Carolina have used a novel brain imaging analysis technique to detect subtle differences in brain function among older adults with preclinical Alzheimer’s disease, who exhibit no noticeable cognitive decline symptoms. The researchers identified potential brain-based reasons for subtle cognitive changes in the early phase of the disease, which could improve the study of preclinical AD. The study shows that individualized functional connectomes can detect subtle variations in brain function that could be missed with other conventional brain imaging analysis techniques.
