"Revamped Boot Camp Boosts Army Recruitment"
The US Army has introduced a prep camp at Fort Jackson in South Carolina to address the shortage in recruits caused by the majority of young people not meeting the physical and mental qualifications to serve. The camp focuses on helping individuals lose weight and improve their fitness levels to qualify for boot camp, with instructors taking on a more supportive role rather than the traditional drill sergeant approach. Additionally, the camp offers classes for those who performed poorly on the written exam. So far, 7,600 individuals have graduated from the prep camp to boot camp, providing them with an opportunity to serve in the Army.
