Gilead Secures Three Solid Tumor T-Cell Engagers from Vir Biotech in $1.9B Deal
Gilead Sciences has agreed to license three T-cell engager candidates from Vir Biotechnology in a deal valued at up to $1.9 billion. The agreement grants Gilead exclusive rights to develop, manufacture, and commercialize the molecules, which utilize Vir’s dual-masked PRO-XTEN platform to target solid tumors. Vir will receive $90 million upfront, including $65 million in cash and a $25 million equity investment, with potential additional payments reaching $1.74 billion in milestones and royalties. This partnership allows Vir to focus on its internal pipeline while generating non-dilutive funding, and it complements Gilead’s recent acquisitions in the oncology space.
