Costco's Resilience Shines Through with $15 Dividend and Earnings Beat
Costco Wholesale Corp. has announced a special dividend of $15 per share and beat profit expectations for the fourth consecutive quarter. This is the company's first special dividend since late 2020. Despite caution from other big-box retailers, Costco has shown resilience and its shares rose as much as 4.1%, reaching a new all-time high. Costco's first-quarter earnings were $3.58 per share, surpassing the average estimate, and its comparable-store sales rose 3.9% excluding gas prices and currency movements, exceeding expectations. Analysts believe Costco is well-positioned due to its strong value offering, high renewal rates, and club expansion plans.
