Israeli mother defies odds and cherishes time with sons suffering from progeria syndrome.
Sara Orshalim, a mother from Elad, has two sons with progeria syndrome, a rare genetic disorder that causes rapid aging and other medical complications. Her eldest son, Refael Nissim, is currently the oldest living person with the syndrome at 21 years old. Orshalim wants to raise awareness about the syndrome and hopes for more acceptance of people who are different. Although there is no cure for progeria syndrome, medical treatments such as Lonafarnib can slow down the progression of the disease.
