Progressive Left Seeks National Breakthrough Beyond Cities
Despite a string of wins, the progressive left’s gains have largely been in urban, highly educated blue districts. Endorsements from Our Revolution, Justice Democrats, and the DSA have helped, but battleground breakthroughs remain scarce. Michigan’s Abdul El-Sayed and Wisconsin’s Francesca Hong could signal a broader breakthrough if they win, yet two favorable races don’t prove a nationwide wave, as mainstream Democrats still dominate most primaries and the left remains concentrated in city centers.
