Red meat consumption linked to increased risk of Type 2 diabetes, study finds
A study published in The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition found that consuming more than one serving of red meat per week is associated with a higher risk of developing Type 2 diabetes. The research, which analyzed data from over 200,000 participants, revealed that those who reported eating the most red meat had a 62% higher risk compared to those who ate the least. The study also suggested that replacing red meat with nuts and legumes could lower the risk of Type 2 diabetes by 30%. The findings support dietary guidelines recommending the limitation of red meat consumption for better health outcomes.
