Wonder revealed unused ideas and effects from the game's development, including a prototype level featuring a "giant block Mario" and brainstorming sessions with concepts like Mario surfing and riding a unicycle. The team had over 2,000 ideas during development, with some focusing on Yoshi's egg-throwing mechanic and an early elephant design that didn't make the final cut.
